Spotlight On Student Richard Dong

On Tuesday, October 1st, 2013, the school enjoyed having eighth-grader Richard Dong, step forward as Clairbourn’s Headmaster For The Day – a special treat gifted to him by his family from the 2013 Spring Auction. Richard proved to be quite dashing in his suit and tie, and he performed his headmaster duties with dignity and flair.

He graciously opened car doors at transportation with Dr. Nafie at his side, conducted the morning Chapel assembly, inspected classrooms, supervised the staff, and also made time for two important tests that he needed to take. During the morning Chapel event, he even treated parents and students in attendance to an engaging performance of the piano piece “Duetto” by Felix Mendelssohn.

Richard’s accomplishments and awards for his piano playing are extensive and most recently include winning the Bach Festival, Glendale Branch, MTAC, in April of 2013. He is also an award-winning visual artist. He also is developing his debate skills and took 5th Place in Public Forum at Irvine Valley College Invitational Debate Tournament in May of 2013.
