On Tuesday, the 8th grade class participated in the annual Cardboard Regatta—a cardboard boat-making and racing competition held in the school pool. The eighth-graders studied the physics of buoyancy and tested their understanding by designing and building cardboard passenger boats. Working in teams of 4 to 5 students, they used sheets of cardboard, 6 rolls of duct tape, and a thin sheet of plastic wrap. Tied for third place was the teal team and the pink team. Each of those boats carried two people one length of the pool, for a total of 10 points each. Coming in second place was the red team. Their team earned 35 points.
